Counting Previous Training

There are certain circumstances in which it may be possible for you to have previous training recognised towards your certification. These are as follows:

• It was undertaken in training posts educationally approved by the GMC or the relevant statutory authority if it took place in another EEA country

or

• You obtained the GMC’s or the relevant training authority’s (if another EEA country) prospective approval for the training post

If you would like to have previous training counted, you should discuss this with your local training committee and Training Programme Director. Once an agreement has been reached, an application for recognition should be sent to the JCST where your SAC will consider your request.
